Mason Dixon Gathering Oct. 25, 2009 « Thread Started on Sept 21, 2009, 12:42pm »
Okay Folks, here's the latest on the 3rd Annual Mason-Dixon Willys Jeep Gathering! Everything is a go for Sunday October 25, 2009 10am-3pm at Historic Union Mills Homestead. An update has been posted at www.jeepchasm.com with directions, etc.
The Gathering T-shirt will knock your socks off this year! It will be worth coming to the show just to get the T-shirt! Thanks to Alex Dunkle for allowing me to photograph and use his CJ2A! (Quantities of this shirt are limited, so I suggest getting registered now and getting to the Gathering early!)
Swap meet, food vendor, parts vendor, Homestead tours, and great Willys vehicles!
Please e-mail me with your registration ASAP so that I may plan accordingly!
We started accepting registrations for the "Gathering" on the 21st. In 2 days, we have already received a dozen registrations and a handful of "maybes." So far, we have the following models registered: CJ2A, CJ3A, early CJ5, MB, GPW, and Pick-Up. Come on and get registered! Let's make this the biggest "Gathering" yet!
The "Gathering" T-shirts have not been printed yet, so there is still time to increase my order! (Unfortunately, they will not be done in time to mail prior to the event, for those who inquired.)

We're up to 30 Pre-Registrations. A couple of Bantam trailers may be there as well!
With the usual last minute and day of registrations, I am expecting as many as 50 vintage Willys vehicles. Let's hope for sunshine to get the rest of the crowd out!

The sun has already come out along the Mason Dixon Line. The wind is drying things out nicely. We expect a nice, unseasonably warm day tomorrow!
Last year we had 5 CJ3A's present. I only have 2 pre-registered this year, and one of them is mine... I hope you guys waiting to check out the weather will come on out!
There will be displays of brand new Jeeps at the Gathering this year, as well as food, new & used parts dealers!

I would like to thank everyone who helped to make the 3rd Annual Mason-Dixon Willys Jeep Gathering a success!
Union Mills Homestead Know Where to Jeep Adams Jeep Kountry Kafe Katering Used Parts Vendors PA Jeeps Staff & Volunteers Vintage Willys Owners
We had blue sky and sunshine for the 3rd year in a row! All I can say is that the Good Lord must love Willys Jeeps!
31 vintage Willys vehicles graced the show field this year. Thanks to everyone who got their vehicles out for the Gathering. I know a number of you had to drive through rain on Saturday!
The voting was real close in some of the classes this year... evidence of some very nice restoration and preservation work! Here are the winners: Best Work in Progress: Jake Koons; Spottswood, VA; 1949 Willys Pick-up Best "Non-Jeep" Willys: Jeff Foster & Debbie Talbert; Taneytown, Md; 1948 Jeepster Best Military Vehicle: Glenn & Christina Harrington; Petersburg, VA; 1942 GPW Best CJ: Dave Wilson; Ephrata, PA; 1946 CJ2A Chairman's Choice: Robert Ducharme; Easthampton, MA; 1957 DJ3A
The only complaint I heard is that there weren't enough event shirts for sale! Sorry, but I doubled my order from last year and told everyone to order in advance or get there early. I only have one T-shirt for myself! (You may try to get Alex D to cough up one of his shirts, but I doubt you will be successful!) If we had rain, I probably would have been stuck with 200 shirts!
For those who don't know, there is no club, group, or committee putting on the "Gathering." It's just me doing all of the work in advance, and then a group of friends and Jeep enthusiasts volunteer on the day of the event. Each year I try to make it a little bigger & a little better! This year, we added the Saturday night "social" at the local crabhouse. Next year, we may add a Saturday Gettysburg Battlefield Jeep tour, with the show on Sunday.
After expenses, all proceeds are donated to the Union Mills Homestead Foundation who graciously allow us free use of their grounds. This year's "Gathering" netted a little over $700, which will go a long way toward various Homestead preservation projects!
(Winner's photos will be posted at the Jeepchasm... after I get a little rest!)
