why two different spring bundles

Hey ya'll, I've been reading this forum for awhile and I have to say ya'll have it all together.I have a '51cj3a and this has been a Great Help.Now can anyone tell me why some '53s have ten leaf and some have eight leaf spring bundles.I have ten and I'm going to replace with new ones and I was just wondering.

Regular duty front spring packs had 8 leaves, heavy duty front springs had 10 leaves.

well now that was to simple.I guess if i put a v6 in I should stay with the 10 leaves.thanks for the quick response.
